FilingFirehose is a JSON API that provides structured, normalized SEC EDGAR filings including 8-Ks, S-3/424B5 shelf offerings, and Schedule 13D/13G activist filings. Its core differentiator is body-text classification of 8-K filings, which detects misclassified or buried material events that filers reported under catch-all Item 8.01. It targets retail traders, small funds, and fintech analysts who need parsed, actionable filing data without building their own EDGAR pipeline.
The platform polls EDGAR's RSS feed every 2 seconds, fetches filing bodies, runs a deterministic body-text classifier to detect actual item codes, flags discrepancies versus filer-reported items, and exposes everything via a REST JSON API with webhooks.
