GiveWell is an independent nonprofit that researches and recommends a small number of highly effective charities focused on global health and poverty alleviation. Their research is free and publicly available, covering evidence reviews, cost-effectiveness models, and site visits to identify where donations do the most good. Over 150,000 donors have used GiveWell's recommendations to direct more than $2.6 billion in charitable giving.
GiveWell conducts independent research using randomized controlled trials, cost-effectiveness modeling, interviews, site visits, and budget reviews to identify and recommend a short list of top charities, then facilitates donations directly to those organizations.
