Karabiner-Elements is a free, open-source keyboard customization utility for macOS that allows users to remap keys, create complex modifier rules, and apply community-contributed presets. It supports simple GUI-based configurations as well as flexible custom rules written from scratch. The tool is compatible with both Intel and Apple Silicon Macs across a wide range of macOS versions.
Users download the app, configure simple key mappings via a GUI or write custom JSON rules, and can also import community-created presets from the internet.
