About

Quad9 is a free, privacy-focused public DNS resolver operated by the Swiss-based Quad9 Foundation. It blocks malicious domains in real time using threat intelligence from over 25 cybersecurity providers, protecting users from malware, phishing, and botnets. No IP addresses are logged, no account is required, and the service is GDPR-compliant.

Problem

Default ISP and enterprise DNS services log user data and offer no protection against malicious domains, exposing users to malware, phishing, and privacy violations.

For

General internet users, businesses, and organizations seeking free DNS-level security and privacy

How it works

Users point their device or router DNS settings to Quad9's servers, which automatically block lookups of known malicious hostnames using real-time threat intelligence while never logging personal IP data.
