About

rsyslog is an open-source, high-performance log processing engine that collects, transforms, and routes event data at scale. It supports diverse inputs (syslog, files, Kafka, journals), flexible parsing via RainerScript, and outputs to Elasticsearch, Kafka, HTTP endpoints, and more. With over 20 years in production, it is designed for Linux environments including containers and bare-metal deployments.

Problem

Organizations need a reliable, high-performance way to collect, parse, and route log data from diverse sources to multiple destinations without vendor lock-in.

For

system administrators and DevOps/platform engineers managing log pipelines at scale

How it works

rsyslog ingests logs from various sources, applies filtering and transformation rules via RainerScript and plug-in modules, and forwards processed events to configured outputs using disk-assisted queues for reliable delivery.
