About

Rufus is a free, open-source Windows utility for formatting and creating bootable USB flash drives from ISO images. It supports a wide range of operating systems including Windows, Linux, and UEFI environments, as well as DOS-based firmware flashing. Despite its small footprint (~1.9 MB), it covers virtually all bootable USB creation needs.

Problem

Creating bootable USB installation media from ISO images is technically cumbersome without the right tool.

For

Windows users, system administrators, and developers who need to create bootable USB drives

How it works

Users download a single executable, select a target USB drive and an ISO image, and Rufus formats and writes the bootable image directly to the drive.
